We made Easter Egg bird’s nest to eat today.

Here is all the ingredients and how to make it. We all enjoyed it, but we haven’t eaten them yet!

They are still cooling!

We love Easter!

We love Easter!

You need to buy:

Chocolate, mini eggs, golden syrup,  butter and shredded wheat.

You need to get:

Wooden spoon, a bowl, pot, hot water, muffin cases and trays.

This is how you make it:

  • First you put chocolate, golden syrup and butter into a bowl.
  • Next put the bowl on the pot of hot water.
  • Then you stir it until it is melted.
  • After that you mix the shredded wheat into the bowl and stir it altogether.
  • Scoop the mix into muffin cases and add 2 or 3 eggs.
  • Finally place them into the fridge for 2 hours to help them to go cold and hard.

That’s it!

ps. Ms. Brennan’s class made them too… Check out their photos!

WED PARENTS

‘Wednesday for Parents’ returns to one of our most popular types of posts this week – what’s on over the school holidays! Hopefully there’ll be lovely weather over the two weeks so we’ve included a nice mixture of indoor and outdoor activities.

  • The Mermaid Theatre in Bray has a number of events for children over the Easter break. They’re screening (the original) Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Sunday 13th April at 2pm. Tickets cost €5 and can be booked here. Then, on the 15th and 16th April, the Mermaid welcome spellbinding Children’s Theatre at 3pm & 7pm. Their show ‘Human Child’ combines live music, puppetry and a magnificent set. Tickets €10 (adult) and €8 (child) Family Ticket:4 for €30 and you can book them here.
  • There are a number of Easter Egg hunts around – Kilruddery have one on Easter Sunday. They cost €12.50 plus admission for the egg hunt pack.
  • Another interesting egg hunt takes place in the Croke Park GAA museum. It involves a tour of the museum and a hunt for tokens to redeem against an Easter egg. Tickets cost €8.50 for children and €12.50 for adults. You can find more info here.
  • Easter at the Ark focuses on the millenium celebrations of the Battle of Clontarf. There’s lots of really cool events on to commemorate it, including designing shields and stage combat! You can read more about it here.
  • Imaginosity always have a number of great events on – you can check them out here. We highly recommend the free websites on how to save the planet and the shows with Jungle Dave. Read more about them here.
  • One local event from Imaginosity deserves a mention – they’ve teamed up with Powerscourt to create a Scientific Story Adventure. It looks amazing! Tickets for adults are €8.50 and for children over three are €5, but there are family tickets available. Check it out here.
  • The Museums in the city are a fantastic family day out for free! They have a number of special events commemorating Brian Boru and the Battle of Clontarf. Details are here.
  • Our friends from the National Stud deserve a special mention – they’ve been incredibly helpful over the last few weeks as 5th and 6th class study ‘War Horse’ (did you see our Twitter Q&A?) They’re offering free pony rides over the Easter holidays – check out the details here. Ticket prices can be found here.
  • We couldn’t have an Easter events post and leave out Glenroe farm – I remember taking part in their egg hunts myself! You can find details here.
  • Family Fun is a website that recommends family days out around the country – they’ve an exhaustive list of everything that’s on! Check them out here.

As always, you can find all previous ‘Wednesday for Parents’ posts here. We’d love to update our post with your tips – let us know what you recommend!

Baby T was back in today. We’ve been learning all about emotions and sleeping recently. He was so friendly! He is never sad. He is taller and heavier now. He loves to play with the toys and can keep eye contact! Gwen taught us a lot about sleep and how Tristan needs lots of it. We have looked at all of the emotions babies can feel. We feel them too! We are learning a lot from Tristan. See our photos in the video above and don’t miss our lovely Vines from T’s visit below!

On Monday St. Kieran’s visited St. Peter’s for the second time this year to take play a friendly football match.  Both teams had children from different classes and a special mention goes to the girls on each team who ran rings around the boys! Kathleen and Kelly Anne for St. Kieran’s and Abbi for St. Peter’s  played brilliantly. The result was a draw in the end with both schools winning one match each. The next time the schools will meet will be on Monday the 28th of April! We can’t wait for our next set of matches. Thanks to Paddy, the best coach ever!

primaryscienceA couple of weeks ago, we were thrilled and excited to get news that we’d won a prize from STEPS for our work during Engineer’s Week. Sam, AaronG, LukeOB and Davy from 5th class had seen Scientific Sue in action at the Intel Regional Finals of the Mini-Scientist and they raised the excitement levels by telling everyone how cool her show was! You can check out her website here – we highly recommend her show!

One of the coolest things about the prize was that we were allowed to invite other schools to join in the fun. The first session of the day was at 9.45. (more…)

2nd Class just LOVE Art.

We enjoy taking time to create beautiful art that is individual and carefully planned out. We love being creative! Our favourite art activities at the moment are weaving and making things with clay!

Just like all of the rest of the school, we have decorated our corridor and take great pride in our displays. When our school is colourful and interesting it makes us proud of our work. We love when people tell us our art is nice.

At the moment, our Art is all about spring and Easter. Would you like to see what a lot of our recent Art work looks like? Enjoy our video!

He’s done it again! Tommy Lang in 4th Class has made yet another outstanding stop-motion video! This one is all about a day at the beach, and the work of the coastguard. He has excellent sound in this one and his use of his voice is truly excellent. Well done Tommy! Another exceptional piece of work!

See Tommy’s previous videos here and here.
