Next week, schools are closed for midterm! This week’s Wednesday for Parents focuses on ideas for entertainment, here in Bray, around County Wicklow and a few further afield. One of our most popular events every year is our 6th class project for the Primary Science Fair at the BT Young Scientist Exhibition. We love how much the students learn from it and the confidence they get from demonstrating experiments, explaining the Science and showing off their hard work! This year, we’re taking part in the Intel Mini-Scientist project as a way to involve other classes in the fun of displaying a science project. The exhibition will take place on Tuesday 3rd December at 10am and it promises to be an amazing day. 4th, 5th and 6th will display individual, paired or small...

      Today in school, we had our first fire drill of the year. Although it was unexpected, all the students reacted immediately, leaving everything behind them. They left the building quickly and calmly and then lined up at the agreed meeting spot for the class teachers to do a headcount. Well done everyone! At the moment, many of the classes are working on place value in Maths. Place value is an important topic because it leads into addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. If your child is having difficulty with the topic or would like a bit more practice, here are some excellent sites with activities to try out. Every year, Culture Night takes place in late September. This year, it’s on the 20th of September – a Friday. It’s an amazing night where you can access venues and events around the country for free. Although all events are free, some may need to be booked in advance – which is why we’re drawing attention to them nice and early!
