November has been Anti-Bullying month in St. Peter’s. Each week for the month Junior Infants have been engaging in activities to learn more about what bullying is and what we can do if we or someone we know is being bullied. We looked at different bullying scenarios and how people might feel in different situations. Luckily this isn’t a problem for us in Junior Infants who have been working really hard on getting along, sharing and being a team since the start of the year. We have just finished another exciting Science Week in St. Peter’s. Junior Infants loved getting to grips with this week’s STEM lessons. Early in the week we explored magnetism. We talked about what magnets are and watched a short video on magnetism. We then investigated things that were magnetic by testing our magnets out around the classroom and school. Finally we came back and tried to predict which items from a group were magnetic and which were not and tested these out. Later in the week we ventured into early programming skills. We were delighted to welcome in our new Junior Infants this year who have settled in really well. Despite being unable to have our traditional open day in June we are delighted with how well everyone has adapted to their new surroundings. Every morning we start the day with circle time and our welcome song. We are busy “working” every day with free play and Aistear.
