Toontastic! from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo. Hi my name is Codie and I’m in 3rd class. I hope you enjoy my Toontastic video. I spent a while writing the story and then making it! My characters are Tony, JJJ, Bender the robot and the two bullies, King Arnes and Onetwo. It’s about a science fair where the bullies try to steal JJJ and Tony’s invention- Bender, but they fail! I hope you like watching it.
Last Friday, we had a new twist on an old tradition on St Peter’s – the Mini-World Cup! You can read all about last year’s Mini-World Cup here. This year, we had three Mini World Cup tournaments – Junior and Senior Infants played in the morning, 1st and 2nd classes played between break and lunchtime and the older classes had their tournament after lunch. Here are a few photos and Vines from the day – and you can read more about the infant classes and their tournament here.
Hi, it’s Rowan from third class here. I had loads of fun doing my Toontastic project. It took a long time but I enjoyed it. The characters are Jody, Alisa, Wolf Mann , Gue Monster, the ghost and mum. It’s a cartoon about when Alisa gets a goal when playing football and she goes really crazy. Then her brother Jody gets mad. He gets even madder when Alisa accidentally pushes him down a magic hole into a scary place. I hope you enjoy it because I enjoyed making it! Rowan’s Toontastic video from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo.
During Engineer’s Week 2015, third class had a visit from Joe, a Civil Engineer from Dublin City Council. Joe showed us pictures of a water treatment plant. We thought this was really interesting, so, for Discovering Science 2015, we decided to filter some dirty, grassy water of our own! We filtered water in two ways! Have a look at Kelsey, Dominick, Caoilynn and Dylan watering how well Caoilynn can filter the water using her hand – her face tells a story of its own! Kelsey and Dylan then watched how the water would filter as it passed through a thick J-cloth! Brooke, Kia and Ryan...
One of our favourite hobbies in third class is going to the cinema. For Tech Week 2015, we thought it would be cool to see some of the cool technology behind the scenes in the cinema. We got some help from the owner at the cinema who sent us these cool photos – have a look! This is projection suite in the cinema! We thought this was a great Tech Week 2015 photo – a film hard drive – we didn’t expect the film to look like this! WOW! Look at how big the sound box is at the cinema! We hope you’ve enjoyed looking at these behind the scenes pics as much as week have!
Thanks to everyone who made our open morning for Grandparents’ Day so special. It was lovely to have you visit our school. We had grandparents, neighbours, friends of the Parish and our Mams and Dads in to see our rooms, work and performance. We performed a couple of classics from previous shows and had a lovely time. Thanks to our Parents’ Association for their hard work and time spent serving tea, coffee and other lovely treats! We can’t wait for Grandparents’ Day 2016!
Third class had a visit from Joe, a Civil Engineer from Dublin City Council for Engineer Week 2015. Joe came to our class one Friday morning and told us all about the different types of engineering – Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical and Civil. We looked at water treatment plants, robots, airplanes, bridges and much more! One of the things we really loved were the pictures of the wind farms. Joe told us lots of fun facts about Engineering. Did you know that when Engineers are designing bridges, they leave a little tunnel with bait for badgers to pass through so that they don’t have to cross...
We are delighted to be a part of the GAA Around Ireland video which will be featuring in Croke Park! St. Peter’s will be on the big screen. Pause at 1.32 to see Brigid getting ready to display her football skills on video! Well done Brigid – third class and Ms. Farren are very proud. Thank you Tommy for improving our skills all year!
Congratulations to our wonderful Sacramental Choir who sang so beautifully at the recent Confirmation. 24 boys and girls from 2nd to 5th came to St Peter’s Parish Church on Saturday morning after weeks of practice at lunchtimes! We got great feedback about their beautiful singing and their school spirit was really appreciated! We’re looking forward to hearing them again at the Communion ceremony on the 24th April!
Dominick’s Cartoon from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo. I worked really hard on my ‘Toontastic’ video and I really hope you enjoy it. It’s about three dinosaurs, Rex, Bronto and the very silly Terry. It took me a long time to make it on the ipad because I had to do it day by day. I followed a ‘story arc’ to write 5 scenes. I wrote my first scene, the ‘setup’, then the ‘conflict’ where there’s a problem in the cartoon. The ‘challenge’ scene was where the problem got even harder for the main characters. The ‘climax’ scene was where everything got solved...
