We have finished our second book of the year. We really liked our latest book called The Magic Finger. Roald Dahl wrote it. We have now read two Roald Dahl books. The first one was called The Giraffe, The Pelly and Me. We recorded a podcast about that here. Why not check out our podcast about The Magic Finger now? We had brilliant fun on Wednesday. To celebrate Science Week 2013, we made a human piano with 2nd, 5th and 6th class! We made it using a makey makey board and a scratch game. Check out our video! We’re so pleased with it. Archie, Patryk and Edward did a brilliant job presenting. The start of the video is an explanation and 2.38 is where the real music kicks in. We made lava lamps. It was so cool! We wanted to do them because we saw that 3rd Class did them last year. You can see their work here. Why don’t you see our video? Congratulations to the boys and girls who were presented with their Seatbelt Sheriff certificates recently. They worked very hard to earn the certs, wearing their badges to remind family and friends how important it is to wear your seatbelt. Well done all! If you can’t see the video, please click here!

2nd Class have been learning about maps, planet earth, the Arctic, Italy and Australia so far this year. We love exploring on the globe, on our computers, in our atlases and in our books. Today we loved back on all we know about Australia and Italy. Maybe you might learn something from us. Have a listen to see! We have been dancing for four weeks now. We do Irish dancing. It is great fun. Our dancing teacher is called Sue. She is a brilliant dancer and was in the All Ireland dancing competition last week. She came first in the first round. We now know the Walls of Limerick, the 3 hand reel and the easy reel. Check out our latest updated video! Our very spooky Pumpkin jars! 2nd Class are just so excited for Halloween. We have learned songs, rhymes and poems in Irish and English and we made toffee apples and pumpkin jars. We even had some báirín breac to see who would get married first! Later in the week we will play Halloween games from long ago, bake Halloween topper cupcakes, carve pumpkins and make our trick or treat bags. We are using our English, Gaeilge, Art, Music and History lessons all about Halloween this week! The toffee chocolate apples we made, they were yumm   Here are some of our rhymes and poems! When others in our class go to Friday Fit Club we have a Project Club. We do art, crafts, poetry, computers and podcasting in this time. We get better at some of our favourite things. We decided to make a video showing our school Halloween decorations.
