6th Class are really enjoying their latest book, ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. This is our second  podcast and we are delighted with how it came out. Sam and Robert presented and they did a great job! Lots happened in the story since we spoke last, don’t miss this podcast! Warning: It contains major spoilers!  

6th Class sketched famous sites in Dublin to celebrate Culture Night. Last Friday night, famous sites and buildings all over Ireland opened up to the public for viewing. We chatted about famous places we think we would like to visit in Dublin, and we decided to draw them. We hope you like our work!

6th Class had an absolutely brilliant day last Friday. We are so excited to tell you all about the great things we did to celebrate Roald Dahl Day. Roald Dahl is one of the best children’s writers and we love his stories. We have Roald Dahl day on September 13th as that was his birthday. We remembered our favourite people and places in his books. These are some of the things we did. 1. We had a joke competition because Ms. Brennan told us that one of Roald Dahl’s famous lines is that ‘A little nonsense now and then is cherished by the wisest men!’. This means that even if you are very old... 

6th Class are really enjoying their latest book, ‘The Witches’ by Roald Dahl. It’s a perfect read for this time of year as we have Halloween on our doorstep! It’s also great timing as this Saturday is Roald Dahl Day. Roald Dahl Day is on September 13th every year as that was Roald’s birthday. We can’t wait to read even more into the book and we also plan on watching the movie based on the book in the run up to Halloween! This is our first podcast and we are delighted with how it came out. Aaron G presented and he did a brilliant job! It is over 5 minutes long.... 

What an exciting start to life in 6th Class. We’re delighted to have six new pupils in our class, and we hope that Jade, Emmet, Sadbh, Taylor, Christian and Davina feel very welcome. We spent the first week and a half getting to know each other, making sure our new pupils know where everything is and who everyone is, setting up our class shop (more on that later!), organising our room, labelling and numbering our books and copies, and doing our autumn tests! We also made out the rotas for cocoa duty, fruit delivery, roll book delivery, PE equipment supervision and Infant helpers for lunchtime.... 

From this… The 2013-2014 line-up! …to this! The 2014-2015 line-up, with over 60 new pupils, including infants and girls! Well, here we are! Back again to St. Peter’s for another exciting year, one we hope will stand up as one of the best as we welcome back so many familiar faces, and celebrate the arrival of so many new students! After a year of great change and excitement, we opened our doors to over 90 new pupils today, moving from being a senior boys school (with a mixed 2nd Class), to a fully tiered, mixed school. We’re delighted to have Junior, Senior and First Class... 

Last Friday, we had our final assembly of the year. After Mr Foley recapped some of the very exciting things that have happened this year, he praised all the students for their hard work and school spirit. He spoke about the great support that students, staff and parents have given St Peter’s this year and how we can achieve great things when we work together as a team. There were a number of awards to be handed out. We started with the tennis awards from the recent tournament in Shankill. Then, we handed out Bike Week prizes for the overall and class winners of the speed test and the slow... 

There was lots of excitement from early last Thursday morning as we prepared for our school tour! 61 students and 7 staff left St Peter’s at 9.30 am and headed for Fort Lucan. A fantastic time was had by all, as you can see from our Animoto and Vines below! The go-karting and water slides were very popular and there were some great games of chasing on the climbing frames and slides. As always, our classes mixed really well with each other and looked out for each other throughout the day. It was a brilliant way to finish off the term and everyone went home exhausted, but happy (and soaking... 

We had another brilliant Bike Day the week before last. Paddy organised the different tracks and routes to follow, and as per usual there was a fast race and a slow race. It challenged us to use our bicycles in a different way, and we had a big focus on bike and road safety. The winners of the trials were: The ‘slow’ race: 1. Archie Farrell The Fast Race: 1. Dylan Kane (closely followed by Dylan Mason!) Have a look at some of 2nd Class on the routes. This was the slow race! This is the fast race in action! We just LOVE Bike Day and can’t wait for Bike Day 2015!
