Some of our 5th and 6th class boys went to play a soccer blitz at Wolfe Tone Football pitch today. We competed against some great teams from St. Kieran’s, St. Fergal’s and Bray School Project; every school entered two teams into the Blitz. Every team played three matches each. From St. Peter’s, Team 1 won one of their matches by 3 goals to nil and Team 2 won all three of their matches! Davy Berry set up a fantastic goal against St. Kierans which Alan Duda executed perfectly! Our trainer Paddy’s “superkeeper” Eduard had a clean sheet in every match, he never...

This year, Roald Dahl month fell in February and 5th class chose to read Matilda. To celebrate World Book Day, we all chose an extract from...
Let’s start with a picture that says it all! We consulted with parents a couple of weeks ago about homework online. On a number of occasions over the last week, 5th class have had the option of substituting a maths homework activity for 10 minutes of Khan Academy. On Tuesday evening, this happened: The light grey represents time in school, while the dark grey represents time outside of school. So what is Khan Academy? Let us explain! The Khan Academy is a free resource that allows anyone to take classes in Maths, English and Science. It suggests topics for you based on whatever topics...
We all thoroughly enjoyed decorating and eating our delicious pancakes today! Ryan and Nathan had very creative ideas and quite a lot of toppings too!! White chocolate, sugar & lemon and golden syrup were our favourites! As we ate we talked about what Pancake Tuesday is and discovered that it is also called ” Shrove Tuesday”. Ben told us that it is always the day before Ash Wednesday. Ryan explained that it is always just before Lent begins. Nathan O’B knew that Lent lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. We are looking forward to getting our Ashes at mass tomorrow.
Today we thought about all of the signs of Spring in nature, we then went on a nature walk to check if had forgotten to add anything ! Afterwards we made a wordle of all things to do with Spring and nature. We learnt that Spring is a time of growth; the plants and trees are starting to grow buds & leaves, and the animals are coming out of hibernation. Many animals are having babies now too, we have noticed lambs, calves and chicks. We named quite a lot of Spring flowers today too; daffodil, snowdrop, bluebell, tulip, primrose, can you think of anymore? Ms. Mitchell found some frogspawn and...

Every year we use K’nex to help us to explore and improve our construction and engineering skills. This year, our K’nex challenge became part of our Engineering Week 2014 set of activities. Previous challenges include building a bridge, building a lifeboat and building a quad bike. This year we decided to have a local slant on the activity. As you all know, Bray is the hometown of Katie Taylor. We set a challenge to the students to build a tower called after Katie, that would be the centre-point if Bray ever hosted the Olympics. We can dream! The design needed to be: 1. Between 50cm...
