Over the past few weeks, St Peter’s has been a hive of activity preparing for our Mini-Scientist Showcase. You can see all of our previous posts about preparing for it here! We were delighted to welcome two judges from Intel to the school – Sarah and Emily. We’ve had plenty of interaction with them over the past few months, by email and on Twitter so it was lovely to put faces to names! All of the staff remarked on how much time and attention that the judges gave to each project. It was an amazing opportunity for the students to present their work and to answer questions about...
On Thursday night, Singing Club showed off all their hard work from the first term at the Hallelujah Choir Concert in CityWest Hotel. 24 boys and girls travelled on a bus for an afternoon of rehearsals and practice. The concert kicked off at 8pm and we were delighted to see plenty of familiar faces in the audience! The St Peter’s group were the life and soul of the party – even starting dance moves in the crowd. Special guests at the concert included Seo Linn, who during the Summer teamed up with Lurgan for their take on ‘Wake Me Up’, Connie Talbot and Tabby Callaghan. We...
Today in 6th class we were working on our Mini-Scientist project. We were planning out our experiments on our report book template. We wrote down what we knew about our projects and did research to find out more information. We created a podcast using Soundcloud and spoke about our project. Ian Lawless interviewed the lot of us. We had brilliant fun on Wednesday. To celebrate Science Week 2013, we made a human piano with 2nd, 5th and 6th class! We made it using a makey makey board and a scratch game. Check out our video! We’re so pleased with it. Archie, Patryk and Edward did a brilliant job presenting. The start of the video is an explanation and 2.38 is where the real music kicks in. A 35 person human piano… it’s possible! from St Peter’s, Bray on Vimeo.
On the 8th of November, a GAA tournament for fifth and sixth classes took place in Bray Emmets GAA Club. There were six local schools involved. Our first match was against St. Fergal’s B team and we floored them with a whopping three goals and one point! Our second match was against Bray School Project and we scraped through with a one goal lead. After another win against St. Fergal’s A team, we left the stadium delighted and victorious. It was a great tournament and we would like to thank Paddy for all his hard work. Thanks also to Ms. Whyte and Ms. Sexton for letting the boys go. By...
Last Thursday, as part of Maths Week, we took part in a Maths Table Quiz. Paddy and Mr Kinsella, after much deliberation, split 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes into mixed teams of 4 for the quiz in the library. The quiz was provided by Seomra Ranga, always a great source of resources for primary schools. You can check out Seomra Ranga here! Thanks to Ms Byrne, Ms Sugrue, Ms Kane and Mr Staunton for correcting the quiz papers and for keeping the scoreboard up to date. Ms Sexton read out the questions and the jokes. Thanks to Paddy for taking the photos! Well done to Team 14 who were the winners –...
Cross country is a running event that lots of different schools enter. Second class will be able to enter next year, but this year, eight people from each class entered it in teams. It was a tough competition for all the runners in Arklow. We had a good day. All the classes were having fun. Andy was the runner of the day. All the classes had class photos taken. We had a good time on the bus. Everyone was singing on the bus. A big thanks to Paddy and everyone who came along, including Ms Sexton and Ms Byrne. Everyone said we were on our best behaviour and we did our school proud. By...
