This week, 6th class have been learning all about Space. They’ve been learning about space travel and about the planets. They’ve also started writing their science fiction stories. Next week, they’re going to have a debate on whether the Moon Landing was a hoax by examining the different videos out there! Today, they made beautiful chalk drawings of the planets. Well done to Patryk, who photographed all of the pictures for the blog post:
Congratulations to the St. Peter’s Senior football team who were runners-up in the Division 3 final of the North Wicklow League. Mr. Foley presented them with their medals during school assembly on Friday. The boys were narrowly defeated by St. Laurence’s after a great display. By coming second in their division, they qualified for a Wicklow tournament in the Centre of Excellence in Ballinakill, Rathdrum. Special mention must go to Eduard Grefaldeo who played in goal and only conceded one goal in four games, and to Jordan Whyte who won Player of the Tournament. Well done for showing such great...

You may have noticed our jaw-dropping ‘in numbers‘ piece on the blog – well, unsurprisingly, there were too many numbers associated with Mathletes and Khan Academy to choose from so we gave them a post of their own! As we explained in a previous post, 5th and 6th classes are taking part in Mathletes at the moment. At this stage, the competition is in full swing and the students are really enjoying it, but even more importantly, they’re putting in huge effort into improving their Maths! So how have we been getting on? See for yourself! 3 – We’re currently in...
Well Done to Lorcan who is this week’s student of the week in Miss Mitchell’s class! Lorcan earned himself a prize from the lucky dip box for full attendance this week and displaying much neater handwriting . He also got 100% in his maths test and 90% in his spellings test today!. Well done Lorcan on making such a huge effort this week!
We are big fans of Roald Dahl in our class; we decided to read one of his books after all the interesting things that we read about him during World Book Day! We chose The Twits. We talk about each chapter with our talk buddies after reading it, and then we write a summary in our copies. We make sure to talk about the beginning, middle and end every time. Sometimes we chat about how the characters are feeling while we are reading the book, we even try to imagine how we would feel if we were them! We are always laughing at the mean tricks that the Twits play on eachother! Here are some of our favourite...
On Tuesday boys from 3rd– 6th class travelled down to beautiful Avondale to take part in a Cross Country Athletics competition. The boys ran in relay teams of four and did our school proud. It was a tough course but each of the boys tried their best and gave it their all until they reached the finish line. We were blessed that the sun was shining and we all had a wonderful day. ‘Everyone in 3rd class really enjoyed the cross country running.’ – Szymon ‘It was a hard course but we tried our best and had fun.’ –Finn ‘Each of us showed great school spirit cheering on the boys from...
Some of our 5th and 6th class boys went to play a soccer blitz at Wolfe Tone Football pitch today. We competed against some great teams from St. Kieran’s, St. Fergal’s and Bray School Project; every school entered two teams into the Blitz. Every team played three matches each. From St. Peter’s, Team 1 won one of their matches by 3 goals to nil and Team 2 won all three of their matches! Davy Berry set up a fantastic goal against St. Kierans which Alan Duda executed perfectly! Our trainer Paddy’s “superkeeper” Eduard had a clean sheet in every match, he never...
Today at 1.30pm Oreo the Spring lamb came to visit our school. Ben, Johnny,Jordan and Nathan O’B from Ms Mitchell’s Class got to hold the lamb and pet him too. Oreo was very happy to see us all. Jordan noticed that he had no teeth. Johnny noticed that he had a black nose and was very soft to touch. Ben thought he was very woolly and soft too. Nathan got a very cuddly hug off Oreo, they became good friends! Nathan missed Oreo a lot! After seeing Oreo our class had a big chat about the kinds of farms sheep live on, where wool comes from, and where we get our yummy lamb dinners from too! ...
We all thoroughly enjoyed decorating and eating our delicious pancakes today! Ryan and Nathan had very creative ideas and quite a lot of toppings too!! White chocolate, sugar & lemon and golden syrup were our favourites! As we ate we talked about what Pancake Tuesday is and discovered that it is also called ” Shrove Tuesday”. Ben told us that it is always the day before Ash Wednesday. Ryan explained that it is always just before Lent begins. Nathan O’B knew that Lent lasted for 40 days and 40 nights. We are looking forward to getting our Ashes at mass tomorrow.
