Last Wednesday, after the student-teacher soccer match, we said goodbye for now to our 6th class. Their teachers, Ms Whyte and Mr Staunton, spoke really highly of the boys and staff and parents were on hand to wish them all the best for the future. We were delighted to have Ms Hyland and Ms Whyte back from their maternity leave for the ceremony! Mr Staunton prepared a rap about the phases of the moon with the boys and they performed it brilliantly. Members of the staff were still humming it at breakfast the next morning so we’re really impressed that 6th managed to keep it as a surprise!...

As is tradition, the St. Peter’s 6th Class played the Staff in the annual end of year game. While we won’t get into the gritty details (we’re all friends here!), the Staff did manage to sneak in a win. As always, it was a brilliant afternoon! Here are the teams! The Staff! 6th Class The teachers were very discreet, low key winners! Till next year…!

We had another brilliant Bike Day the week before last. Paddy organised the different tracks and routes to follow, and as per usual there was a fast race and a slow race. It challenged us to use our bicycles in a different way, and we had a big focus on bike and road safety. The winners of the trials were: The ‘slow’ race: 1. Archie Farrell The Fast Race: 1. Dylan Kane (closely followed by Dylan Mason!) Have a look at some of 2nd Class on the routes. This was the slow race! This is the fast race in action! We just LOVE Bike Day and can’t wait for Bike Day 2015!

Last Friday, we celebrated the annual St. Peter’s World Cup. It was incredible fun, and as per usual it was very, very tight at the finish. It all started with the team draws. Every teacher had a team to manage! We shared the teams via twitter as they were announced at assembly. Mr. Kinsella will manage Argentina! #PetersWC — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray) June 20, 2014 Ms. Mitchell and Ms. Flanagan will manage France! #PetersWC — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray) June 20, 2014 Ms. Sexton is managing the Ivory Coast! #PetersWC — St. Peter’s Primary (@StPetersBray)...

Yesterday, 5th and 6th class visited Bray Garda station as part of our Community Garda, Stephen’s, work with the school. He visited 5th class a couple of weeks ago so we were really interested to see everything that we’d learned about. You can read our previous post here. We had a really interesting morning in Bray Garda station and we got to see the squad cars, the cells, the medical room, the interview room and the control room where all the emergency calls for County Wicklow come into. We also got to see the CCTV footage from the cameras around Bray. Stephen was really generous...

Last Saturday, St. Peter’s had the huge honour of showcasing their technology and ICT use in Dublin Castle at the Excited Digital Learning Conference. We were invited to participate having completed the Digital Schools of Distinction adjudication. It has been an incredible year for St. Peter’s, and we have worked to improve and enhance our use of ICT at every level in the school. This has led to great success at a national level, and we have been successful in the national Eircom Junior Spiders awards, the national Mathletes finals and we have also won a Creative Schools award for use...

Last Friday, there were quite a few doubtful faces turned to the sky, looking carefully at clouds patterns – it’s times like these we miss Mr Curran! After a very wet day on Thursday and an overcast start to Friday, there were a few worried faces in case it was too wet for Sports Day to go ahead. As it turned out, the sun was splitting the stones by mid-morning and we had a fantastic day! It was mainly thanks to Paddy, who put in so much work for Sports Day, as he always does! We kept track of the day on Twitter, through photographs and Vines. Vine of the day has to go to Dylan Kane...

On Saturday, three of our students – Eduard and Lester Grefaldeo from 6th class and Sam Smith from 5th class attended the Mathletes National Finals. The day began with a session with The Think Academy, who organised a funfair themed maths challenge – including designing the fastest roller-coaster and finding profits for the candyfloss. The boys thoroughly enjoyed this session, just like they enjoyed the CSI themed challenge in DCU. There were 30 students each from 5th class, 6th class, 1st year, 2nd year and 3rd year so chq was full of students, families and teachers. The Grefaldeos...
