The 2014 Eircom Junior Spiders winners were announced at a ceremony at Google HQ in Dublin today. Hosted by RTÉ’s Aidan Power, the awards recognise and reward primary and post primary students for the innovative ways they use the internet, especially around website development, school blogs and design.
At primary level, the Mega Spiders have three categories – Best Project, Best School Blog and Best School Website. There is also a Grand Prix award for the overall winner. We were delighted to win both awards for Best School Blog and the Grand Prix!
“What a fantastic bunch of winners we have. Congratulations to each and every school. We had a tremendous response to the awards this year resulting in a 45pc increase in entries. Competition was genuinely stiff so it’s an incredible achievement to win an award,” said Lisa Comerford, consumer marketing director, Eircom and chairperson of the judging panel.
Caoilynn, James, Tommy and James represented the school at the awards with Ms Brennan and had an absolute ball! We’re so proud of them! James met an ACTUAL spider…. There were lots of cool stands and displays and there was an amazing magician at the show too. Check out all of the vines below!
We appeared in the Irish Examiner and appeared on the Morning Edition and News2day on RTE. You can watch us on News2day here.

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments. It means so much. We’re so proud of the children. All of the staff feel that the world deserves to see our great school in the spotlight, and that the blog is simply a window on the amazing work that has been taking place for years in Peter’s!
Above we have parents, former teachers, the BOM and a neighbouring school teacher comment on our blog. This sums up Peter’s for me. Everyone working together! Thanks again guys! 🙂
