Today I took part in the County Wicklow final of the Easons’ Spelling Bee. You can see my report on the school final here. It took place at Kilcoole Primary School in the St. Brigid’s building.
There were 17 competitors from all over County Wicklow. I came 4th in the whole competition. The word I struggled on was archaic but I spelled all my other words perfectly. My mam and my nanny came with us and they said that they were very proud of me. I wasn’t nervous at all, but my mam was. I got a t-shirt, a dictionary and a certificate.
When I got back to school, I met my teacher Ms Whyte. She was delighted and really proud of me. All of the classes that heard gave me a round of applause and the teachers all came up and told me that I did great.
Thanks to Ms Sugrue and my mam and nanny for helping me to prepare for the Spelling Bee. I really enjoyed myself!
